Law - Defamation

`Defamation is a statement that tends to damage to reputation of a person in the eyes of right thinking individuals, causing them to be shunned or avoided or cause them financial loss. 
There are two forms of Defamation; Libel and Slander. 
Libel - This is the written version of a published false statement that is damaging to a persons reputation.
Slander - This is the spoken version of a false statement that could damage a persons reputation.
There are a number of defences that come with Defamation. These are the rules, the guidelines, that allow decisions to be made about what sanctions can be applied. These are:


  • Fair Comment - This is an expressed opinion based on Public Interest. 
  • Privilege - This is a statement from an official source. For example, if the Police release a statement that says they are undertaking a missing person's investigation on a missing boy from Portsmouth, then you are allowed to say that he is missing.
  • Public Interest - These are statements that are made that are of interest to the public if they concern health,

A girl has been finally found in Mexico 12 years after she was abducted by her mother.
Sabrina Allen was only 4 years old when she was taken from her home due to a bitter custody dispute.

Story Summary:
The two young actress's welcome home a baby girl after Mila reportedly gave birth on Tuesday night at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. 
"She is making sure the house is prepared and the nursery is stocked," a source told E! News. "She's been very involved in everything. She really wants to be a hands-on mom."

"Man guilty of murder over loud rap music"

Story Summary: A Florida man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a black teenager after an argument about loud rap music. Dunn fired 10 rounds at a vehicle carrying Jordan and three of his friends outside a convenience store in Jacksonville.
The 47-year-old testified that he feared for his life after someone in the back seat of the SUV rolled the window down and flashed a gun.
No weapons were found inside the teen's vehicle.
Prosecutors told the court that Dunn shot with intent to kill.
"Each time he is making a conscious decision to fire," attorney Erin Wolfson said in her closing arguments.
"With two hands on the gun, taking aim at Jordan Davis."

By listening to Capital you can instantly pick up on what type of radio it is by the vibe, the tone and hype of the presenters.

What areas do they broadcast too?

London, and around the South of England

KERRANG FM

What format is the station?

Specialist (Focus's on a certain interest - such as religious beliefs, genre of topic and music and discussion)

How do you know this?

Kerrang has been around for a long time and it is known and recognized just by its name as a ROCK genre of radio. It specialises in rock music and all artists that produce rock music. The station is targeted at young people. It also is connected with a music magazine that is very popular amongst rock lovers. 
The daily shows play a range of punk and mental sounds.

What areas do they broadcast too?

It's avaliable on FM and in the West Midlands, but all programming comes from London and Birmingham. It does not cover the highlands, Ireland or the South West.

What format is the station?

Adult Contemporary music (AC). It plays a range of 1960's vocal & 1970s soft rock music, to easy rhythm, blues, and some rock.
